*Since this was the first year for the awards, the judges
decided to give the Atlantic Entrepreneur of the Year Award to four
recipients. They are entrepreneurs who have been in business between
35 to 50 years, well before there was much help to support business
in community.
The idea behind giving four this year, was to acknowledge these
elders, their contribution to the community and set the bar, or
the foundation for which to build the future awards. In the words
of one of our judges for the awards, Dr. Fred Wien, "naming
the four elders Atlantic Entrepreneur is in recognition of the past
and the foundation that these people have laid for entrepreneurship."
